Fresh Fresh Darling Harbour celebrates 1st birthday with feasting, free tastings and family-friendly entertainment
Wednesday, 1 May 2019: Fratelli Fresh’s flagship food and dining emporium at Darling Harbour has the green, white and red balloons ready for its 1st birthday celebrations on Saturday, 25 May and Sunday, 26 May when it will host a weekend of free tastings, feasting, family-friendly entertainment and live music.
The festivities kick off on Saturday, 25 May, when coffee connoisseurs and cheese aficionados can indulge in tasting sessions with coffee legend Lavazza and Marrickville-based cheesemaker Vannella. Other premium producers coming to the party include Ross Hill Wine, with winemaker James Robson taking guests through a selection of cool-climate, Orange region wines, and cult aperitivo maker Campari, which will toast the celebrations with Aperol spritz and Negroni tastings at Fratelli’s fabulous Campari bar.
A Long Table Series lunch ($99pp) of four, shared courses, includes assorted crostini to start; entrees of culurgiones or potato dumplings with mint and pecorino in burnt butter and sage and casarecce pasta with pesto alla trapanese; main dishes of Sicilian mussels with garlic, fennel, cherry tomatoes and white wine, and porchetta and lemon-roasted chicken; and panna cotta with strawberries and mint for dessert. Unlimited Ross Hill Wines, 4 Pines beers, espresso martinis and Aperol spritz are included in the price. The celebratory feast will be served to the backdrop of a live Italian acoustic band.
Pizza enthusiasts can roll up their sleeves for a one-hour masterclass ($25pp), with only 20 spots available for a pizza the action. Late-afternoon live music will help guests ease into Sydney’s best-value happy hour, with apéritivo drinks and antipasti plates ranging from $3 to $6. Bookings for the masterclass can be made here.
The festivities continue on Sunday, 26 May, with a second round of tasting sessions from Lavazza and Ross Hill Wine, as well as internationally renowned brewers, Goose Island.
Captain America, Spiderman and Frozen’s Elsa are dialling up the family-friendly fun with free entertainment all afternoon. Little ones can unleash their inner chef, with a kids’ pizza masterclass ($10pp), while mums and dads learn the tricks of the dessert-making trade with a free, banoffee pie masterclass. Families can also take advantage of the daily kids-eat-free menu, which enables one child under the age of 12 to eat for free from the kids’ menu with a paying adult.
As a special birthday treat, Fratelli Fresh Darling Harbour will also be giving away scoops of gelato between 11am and 5pm, all weekend. Guests can choose from 15 flavours of house-made deliciousness, including pistachio, blueberry, Nutella, and mascarpone and fig.
