Rockpool Dining Group brings Eleven Bridge into the fold
Wednesday, 15 March 2017
Rockpool Dining Group is bringing the Eleven Bridge site into its portfolio and will open a new restaurant at the landmark Sydney CBD location by mid-2017.
Eleven Bridge will close after dinner service on Saturday, 13 May. All employees have been offered the opportunity to stay with the Group.
Rockpool Chief Brand and Culinary Officer Neil Perry AM said the restaurant would close on a huge culinary high with Executive Chef Phil Wood presenting tasting menus of classic dishes from Eleven Bridge and Rockpool, in celebration of a wonderful 28-year history.
“The team is really excited about going out on such a high by creating all the great three-hat dishes, past and present,” Mr Perry said.
“Rockpool Dining Group operates a tight-knit family of quality restaurants and great brands with maximum efficiency and it makes sense to operate the Eleven Bridge site within this portfolio, rather than as a standalone restaurant.”
Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pash said the Eleven Bridge site was conveniently located in between some of Rockpool Dining Group’s core clusters of restaurants and tied the group’s Sydney footprint together nicely.”
“The location is perfect and being part of the critical mass that is Rockpool Dining Group makes it more manageable for everyone,” Mr Pash said. “It’s a unique and historic site, and a handsome addition to the group. We’re looking forward to revealing the latest addition to our portfolio in due course.”
Mr Perry first opened Eleven Bridge as Rockpool on George Street, Sydney in 1989. Phil Wood was appointed Head Chef in 2009 and has served as Executive Chef since 2010.
The restaurant was awarded Three Hats by The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide from 2011, and named a three star restaurant by Australian Gourmet Traveller from 2009.
Further details about the exciting new concept will be announced over coming months.
