Chanise O’Donnell, Assistant Restaurant Manager at The Bavarian Mackay, is thrilled to have returned to her family roots.
The 24-year-old is originally from Rockhampton, while her extended all live in Mackay.
As an 18-year-old, Chanise left North Queensland for the Sunshine Coast in 2015 where she embarked on a hospitality career. She worked at a local restaurant before joining The Bavarian Sunshine Plaza as a casual wait staff in October 2018.
Chanise quickly proved herself as a valuable member of The Bavarian team, and was promoted to Floor Supervisor in February 2019.
When Rockpool Dining Group announced The Bavarian would open in Mackay in June 2019, Chanise expressed her keen interest in joining the opening team.
“I absolutely love Mackay and practically all of my family live here,” says Chanise.
Thanks to the Group’s culture of promoting and supporting hard-working individuals with
leadership potential, Chanise was offered the opportunity to help open The Bavarian
Mackay, as Assistant Restaurant Manager.
“There’s such a nice sense of community here, and I think The Bavarian is going to be a big hit with locals,” she says.
Chanise is just as excited to be a part of The Bavarian Mackay family, as she is to be living nearer to her real family.
“Working at The Bavarian is like being part of one big family. Everyone looks out for each other and helps you achieve things you didn’t even know you could do.”
