Rockpool Bar & Grill and Burger Project deliver ace menus at Australian Open

Monday, 17 December 2018: Tennis fans are in for a treat when Rockpool Bar & Grill and Burger Project roll in for the Australian Open from Monday, 14 January, to Thursday, 27 January 2019.

Located in “The Berm” on the city side of Margaret Court Arena, Rockpool Bar & Grill’s stylish
pop-up seats 190 guests and emulates the sleek interior of the renowned Melbourne restaurant at the Crown Complex.

The exquisite a-la-carte menu, especially curated for the legendary sporting event, features an expansive selection of sustainably sourced produce and some of the restaurant’s signature dishes. Entrées include roasted macadamias with Aleppo pepper ($10), grilled asparagus with spanner crab and herb butter ($38), and heirloom tomato salad with fresh goat’s curd ($29).

Mains such as Cape Grim minute steak with Café de Paris butter ($42) and Yellowfin tuna with salmorigilio, shaved fennel and lemon ($52) are each worthy of a match break. Hungry spectators can choose between a selection of sides, while an enticing dessert menu offers four Rockpool Bar & Grill classics, including Catherine’s passionfruit pavlova ($21). An extensive wine list is also on offer at the restaurant.

The Rockpool Bar & Grill pop-up is open from 12pm to 8pm daily. Reservations can be made here, with walk-ins dependant on availability. All-inclusive tennis and dining packages can also be purchased here.

On a more casual note, Burger Project is providing tennis lovers with a quick foodie fix before, during and after matches, with the return of its Australian Open burger bar in the Grand Slam Oval.

Serving up some of Melbourne’s best quality burgers, the restaurant is bringing three Burger Project favourites to its Australian Open menu:

  • The Cheeseburger ($17) features a Cape Grim grass-fed beef patty, cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and a secret house-made sauce.
  • The American ($17) comprises of a Cape Grim grass-fed beef patty, cheese, onion, pickles, a secret house-made sauce and rose mayonnaise.
  • The Mushroom ($17) includes a crumbed confit mushroom, cheese, onion, pickles, fresh tomato, lettuce and a secret house-made sauce.

Burger Project’s crunchy golden chips ($5.70) are also available alongside a selection of delicious house-made dips ($2), and make for the perfect mid-game snack.

Rockpool Dining Group Culinary Director Neil Perry is thrilled to bring Rockpool Bar & Grill and Burger Project to the Australian Open Village for another year.

“The atmosphere at the Australian Open is buzzing, vibrant and unlike any other sporting event in the country,” says Neil. “It’s an honour for two Rockpool Dining Group restaurants to be able to showcase some of the best sustainable produce to tennis fans from around the world.”
