WingHAÜS by Bavarian: American-style wings, beers and sports bar comes to Brisbane

Wednesday, 28 August 2019: Welcome to WingHAÜS by Bavarian, a wing-packed, sauce-smacked spinoff of Australia’s fun-loving The Bavarian family, which is scheduled to open on Edward Street in Brisbane in late September/early October 2019.

A new dining and entertainment concept by Rockpool Dining Group, WingHAÜS by Bavarian fuses eight variations of sauce-doused, American-inspired chicken wings, and other treats and snacks, with 40 taps of beer and a boisterous, sports-bar vibe thanks to a bank of 30 TVs that can screen multiple games simultaneously.

WingHAÜS by Bavarian is reminiscent of an American diner and accommodates 240 guests, including around 135 outdoors, with a mix of high table tops, communal tables, bar stools and leather booths throughout the open-plan space. Walls are decorated with bright neons, nostalgic signage, hints of its Bavarian heritage, and unique sports memorabilia.

Inspired by the chicken wing’s cult status in the US, and The Bavarian’s own famous buffalo wings, WingHAÜS by Bavarian offers a range of buffalo wings, fried wings (dusted in either chipotle or habanero powder) and boneless chicken tenders. All come in servings of 10, 15, 20, 50, or 100 pieces and with a choice of eight accompanying hot sauces: traditional hot sauce, chipotle, habanero, afterburner, face-melting, Texas BBQ, teriyaki and Korean.

Addictively good enough to create their own cult following, these wings have a choice of five accompanying dips: blue cheese, ranch dressing, honey and mustard, garlic, and haüs sauce. Side dishes include coleslaw, pickled vegetables, and salads include gem lettuce with ranch dressing and garden haüs.

The menu also features burgers, including The Haüs, showcasing secret-spiced chicken breast with habanero hot sauce, Texas BBQ sauce, cheese, coleslaw and pickles; the Classic Haüs featuring secret-spiced chicken breast with garlic sauce and pickles; and the Moo Haüs beef burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and tomato sauce.

Snacks includes hot chips, buffalo ranch chips (smothered in hot sauce and ranch dressing), Texas ranch chips (with Texas BBQ and ranch sauces), onion rings, potato gems, and deep-fried pickles.

The menu ends on a sweet note with classic New York-style cheesecake, and deep-fried chocolate bars and ice cream – choose from Mars, Snickers or Picnic. Takeaway and delivery services are available.

A long bar with high-stool seating for 14 guests runs the length of the diner, featuring sister establishment The Bavarian’s signature stein chandelier, which holds over 200, 1-litre, authentic glass steins, and a custom-built, 40-beer tap wall. The Bavarian DNA flows through the beer pumps with German stalwarts Löwenbräu, Paulaner, Franziskaner, Spaten and Hofbräu featured alongside and American bellwethers, Budweiser, Stella Artois and Goose Island, prized Belgian brews by Hoegaarden, and local heroes 4 Pines and Pirate Life. Guests can sit up at the bar and enjoy a global beer hop, one continent at a time.

Cocktails on tap showcase the margarita, old fashioned, Aperol spritz, negroni and espresso martini. Frozen margaritas are available in classic and strawberry flavours.

WingHAÜS has the ability to screen 30 live sports events simultaneously, with technology that enables diners to use their mobile phones to listen to a specific game. A great sound and a playlist will feature Rock & Roll and other classic tunes. Retro pinball machines and arcade games bring more fun to the finger-lickin’ feast.

Rockpool Dining Group Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pash said WingHAÜS by Bavarian was a first-of-its-kind dining and entertainment experience in Australia, which fused the Group’s Bavarian and American cultures.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing our first WingHAÜS by Bavarian to Brisbane,” Mr Pash said. “Guests can pair a beer with a basket of wings, pick a bar stool, or a booth, and enjoy a great experience whether it’s during the corporate lunch hour, after work, or watch a rowdy weekend sports game.”

WingHAÜS by Bavarian joins its sister fleet The Bavarian, which already has 28 outlets in Australia, including eight in Queensland, with the ninth to open at Robina Shopping Centre on Wednesday, 28 August 2019.
